   you mean you got a hoster such as Daddycheese or some other one? No, you dont have to port forward those servers.

    Yes there is. On a mac you can just go to system preferences, configure IPv4 manually, and put in the DNS server IPs.

    Yep, this works for all versions as it doesn't affect the server just the IP.
